10 quickies with Mark «The Ribman» Gevaux

Each day until the new season kicks off we ask a new West Ham related personality or site the same 10 questions and present the answers for you here on our website. Today we have a real treat for you, it’s the Ribman of West Ham United, Mark Gevaux.

SH: Time to promote yourself! Who are you?

MG: My name is Mark Gevaux, BUT I am better known as The Ribman. And since I have been serving thousands of West Ham fans at home games – The Ribman of West Ham – which i LOVE.

SH: Why do you support West Ham?

MG: I Support West Ham because i grew up in a West Ham supporting family – My Dad, my Uncles & Aunties , my Nan and i think secretly my Mum, lol.

SH: Who is your all-time favourite Hammer?

MG: I don’t have a favourite all time Hammer. I have a long list with Bobby Moore, Billy Bonds, Alan Devonshire and Paulo Di Canio. As i said, it is a LONG list. BUT if i have to choose ONE, I will go for Julian Dicks – To have a Julian Dicks in your side, you have the heart of the team – Absolute LEGEND !

SH: What is the best West Ham game you have seen?

MG: The best game I have been to was probably the first time I went to the new Wembley stadium to watch us win promotion against Blackpool – WHAT A DAY ! Yes, there are better games, but sometimes it is about more than that. COYI

SH: Which team do you «hate» the most?

MG: When we say we HATE teams I always think that the banter has gone too far – I LOVE banter with other teams – ESPECIALLY Tottenham and Millwall, but that for me is all it is – BANTER

SH: Any pre-match rituals and how does a match day look for you?

MG: My pre-match ritual has changed since I became the Ribman Of West Ham – Although, when we are having a tough time or we really need a win, I will buy a new lucky hat – I have quite a few hats from last year, hahaha!

SH: What are your thoughts on the London stadium and the move in general?

MG: I thought the move to the London Stadium was a brave one – I can see both sides and moving on is NEVER easy, but i honestly believe that the money coming into football at the moment would mean that in another 10 years or so, we would have been swallowed up and overtaken by clubs that we would consider small today – I think we needed to do it to keep up with the modern game – and I actually LOVE the stadium when we rock it – After the Tottenham game it felt like home! COYI

SH: 4th place in the league or FA Cup win?

MG: I am trying to get a bet on for top 6 and a cup win, so I say BOTH!!

SH: If you could sign 2 more players for West Ham, who would it be?

MG: IF i could sign TWO more players? I think i would now start bringing our youth through – we have some outstanding talent and it would be great to see them start to get their chance.

SH: Whats your predictions for the 17/18 season?

MG: My prediction for the coming season is for us to finish ABOVE Tottenham, and Hernandez to score 20 goals with a nice FA Cup run to the final .
